Welcome Liturgical Art The Artist Ordering Information

I love this work (and play!) of expressing my faith in God's bold
beauty and playful whimsy. As an ordained preacher and teacher I used words, mostly, to articulate the Incarnate Word in ways I hoped were fresh and inviting. But increasingly I wanted to speak in larger, more visual, more colorful ways. I designed new banners; I created artistic worship spaces to awaken and gladden hearts, and to provoke thought. In retreats with women and workshops with pastors and teachers I incorporated art projects to give form, or "incarnation," to faith (and also for fun).

After more than fifteen years of serving churches in New England and
Washington State as a religious educator and "woman of the cloth"
(pastor), I examined the heart of my heart and discovered an eager
artist who was clamoring for more visibility. I knew my calling to
God's work was still alive and well, so with a leap of faith I
determined to become an artist in ministry. My medium would be my
life-long love, fabric. I have become, in a nuanced sense, a "woman of
the cloth."

None of my work is "generic." Based on my belief that God is indeed
still speaking, and eternally making all things new, I aim to "speak"
the Word, made fresh and colorful. I want a believer to look at my
work and smile, recognizing God's own glee. I hope he or she might
feel some new prompting, and catch some surprising glimpse of God's glory and grace.

Looking up from my work to the evergreen hills and amber pastures, and the high blue sky outside my studio windows, my soul is at rest, yet stirred to create something beautiful for God, something inspiring for God's people.
